On Friday 22 September, Seaford Chamber hosted a charity Golf Day in aid of the Bevern Trust based at Barcombe, East Sussex. This local charity enables profoundly disabled people to get more from life where care, family and love come first, every day.
A total of 67 players played 18 holes on a glorious day at Blatchington Golf Club. The players started with bacon rolls and coffee at 12.30pm and had an excellent day’s golf in the splendid Sussex countryside.
Prizes for 1st 2nd 3rd individual score, 1st 2nd 3rd team score, nearest to the pin and the longest drive were awarded. There was also some friendly rivalry between other local Chambers – Newhaven Chamber and Peacehaven Chamber presented teams to challenge the Chamber Cup. However Seaford Chamber retained it for the third year in succession.
Sponsorship was extremely successful with over 40 local businesses sponsoring the event. Goody bags were handed out to all players with some very generous gifts included.
The funds raised were increased by an Auction at the 3 course evening dinner that followed the golf and a total of £500 was raised, in addition to another £500 for the raffle.
This was a hugely successful community event which included many local businesses and the main sponsor, Barclays Premier, match-funded the revenues raised by the Chamber of Commerce. A total of £5,000 was presented to the Bevern Trust at the Chamber Breakfast meeting on Thursday 2 November 2017.
The 2018 year’s event will be held at Blatchington Golf Course on 21st September. Please register your interest for the competition with Alasdair – email@example.com
